Description
This is a 2002 Gold 30mm chassis bought in 2003. It was never raced but saw about 15 practice days until I figured out I'd bought totally the wrong equipment for my 10 year old, and got him a Cadet kart instead. Gold is an Italian manufacturer with a reasonable dealer network in the US, and most components are Righetti/Ridolphi and available everywhere. It is very nicely finished with an embroidered suede steering wheel and Gold proprietary "Tripmatic" automatic-adjust brake caliper.
Choose one of two configurations, Adult or Child class:
Child: WKA junior sportsman class. The chassis will come exactly as pictured in photos, with a fresh Woltjer Jr. Sportsman built 100cc KT100. Woltjer is one of, if not the, premier engine builders for this class. The engine is tuned with the small Walbro carburator, running with a 4 hole can. The kart will come with the wheels installed in the photo, which are the narrower width you need with this lightweight class.
Adult: Sr. Sportsman, four hole class, Yamaha Masters, or many others: Instead of the Woltjer KT100, the kart will come with the second engine picured, a very low-hour blueprinted engine built by a local builder. It will come with the large sized Walbro carb, not pictured. Instead of the wheels installed on the kart in the photo, it will come with the wheel set photographed on the lawn. These are the larger wheels needed for the heavier adult classes.
Note that the seat is quite small, (sized for a kid of ~100lbs) and more appropriate for the Jr. Sportsman application. If you are buying to use for an adult application, I will sell without the seat for a $20.00 credit.
The kart is in good condition although the bodywork is only a B+ at best; the kids do a lot of rubbing even in practice. Also the steering wheel is slightly bent but not enough that you notice easily. It hasn't been used since summer of '04 so you'll need to bleed brakes, inflate tires etc.
The chassis cost ~$1800.00 new, and built engines are ~$1200.00 Buying someone else's mistake for fifty cents on the dollar is a great way to get into karting, because there are myriad little items that really add to the costs, e.g. motor mounts, seat, wheels, airbox, and many other bits of hardware.
Small spares package comes with it, includes carb and brake rebuild kits, spare pads etc.
Must be picked up in Central New Jersey.
Asking $1500.00 for either configuration. 609-306-2782
